The Homestead and Shearers’ Quarters are two different accommodation options when staying at Mount William Station and are approximately 750m away from each other. The historic Homestead is our luxury accommodation with seven rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Guests staying at the Homestead have a two-course dinner every night and a cafe-style breakfast in the morning included in their stay. They are also able to use our Homestead amenities such as the tennis court, outdoor pool, golf course, and sauna. Down the road is our Shearers’ Quarters, a rustic and cozy accommodation that was once home to the shearers and workers that worked on the farm. It has since been modernized but still holds that old world charm. With eight bedrooms, three bathrooms, and shared living spaces, it is the perfect accommodation for groups looking to getaway to the countryside.
Mount William Station is still a working farm. Next door, Rob Abbott owns Mount William Charolais, and continues the family legacy of breeding the rare, white Charolais breed in Victoria. Moreover, Sybil Abbott-Burmeister runs a composite ewe flock, producing lambs for sale.
At Mount William Station, we have two farm cats and 8 chickens that roam the property freely. On neighbouring properties we also have countless sheep, Charolais cows, and horses. In terms of wildlife, there are numerous birds, rabbits, kangaroos, and more to be spotted in and around the property.
Yes! From playing tennis to jumping in the pool, there are an endless number of activities for kids to enjoy during your stay at Mount William Station. High chairs and cots can be made available as well.

Mount William, the tallest peak in the Grampians, is named after King William IV. The farm used to reach the foot of Mount William so it was named Mount William Station.

The nearest town to Mount William Station is Ararat, which is 30 minutes by car. The town of Halls Gap is 45min drive, while Dunkeld is 35min drive.

In the Homestead, the fridge in the kitchen may be used to store your items. Please give your items to a member of our staff to put in the fridge for you. The Shearers Quarters has two fridges. A food and drinks fridge.
On the property, guests are encouraged to walk down to Lake Anne for an easy track. In the nearby Grampians National Park, there are several hikes – please see a list of our staff favourites here.
When you book a room in the Homestead directly with us, a two-course dinner and cafe-style breakfast is included. Dessert can be added on at $20 pp. Please let us know if any dietary requirements at least 72 hours before your stay.
Yes, our chefs serve a two or three course set dinner menu that is inspired by the local, seasonal ingredients. No two nights are ever the same so guests can expect a range of dishes that showcase the best of the Grampians.
Breakfast is from 8:30 – 10:00 AM and dinner is communal dining at 7 PM.

Pets are not allowed on the property due to the livestock.

Yes, there is wifi on the property. However, reception can be spotty depending on which network you are with.
No, we do not offer horseback riding. However, horseback riding is offered by Grampians Horse Riding Center in the Wartook Valley region of the Grampians National Park

Tea and coffee is available at the self-service station in the Homestead kitchen. During breakfast hours, barista made coffee is available.
Yes! We have tennis rackets and balls, and gold clubs and balls for guests to use on the property. We also have a variety of lawn games, such as Finksa, as well.
For events, we have the Bluestone Stables Bar that is full equipped with cold drink storage, kegs, and other bar amenities.
For individual guests staying at the Homestead, we have a honesty bar system in place. Simply find the drinks fridge in the Rhino Room and scan the QR code to purchase your drinks before enjoying.
Yes, the Homestead stays cool in the summers and we run the fireplaces during the winter. Additional heaters and fans are also available upon request.
